*Says his performance is abysmally poor

IBADAN – FORMER Minister of Power and Steel, Elder Wole Oyelese,  has challenged Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, to waive his immunity for a  few days and walk through the streets to test his popularity in the state.

At a briefing, Elder Oyelese lamented that the sordid state of socio-economic development in the state would force a progressive mind to weep for the future of the state.

With what he described as “record of pedestrian performance” by Governor Akala, he called on him to step  aside before he was shown the way out.

To him, neither the former Governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja nor the incumbent governor possessed the moral justification to represent the people of the state in the April elections.

He called on the people to shed the toga of pride that the next governor must be an Ibadan man, saying it did not matter to him where a governor hailed from as long as the people got full value for their confidence in giving him their mandate.

He said, “while Fashola of Lagos or Lamido of Jigawa may not be the best things to happen to states in Nigeria, I stand to be corrected if I say that nobody in Oyo State  especially Ibadan would oppose a second term bid of a governor from Ogbomoso, Iseyin or Igboho if he or she has performed at Fashola’s or Lamido’s levels. It is a  pity that in Oyo State, political actors find it convenient to use unfortunate and disgraceful eras as yardstick to measure their own achievement.
