The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dimeji Bankole, on Thursday narrated how an helicopter he boarded together with the Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, suddenly landed at a village five minutes away from Abeokuta.

Bankole and Daniel were on board an helicopter that developed a technical fault mid-air and landed in a village, Kajola, near Abeokuta on Wednesday.

The speaker and the governor were said to be travelling from Akure, the venue of Wednesday’s presidential rally to Abeokuta when the incident happened.

Our correspondent gathered that besides Bankole and Daniel, two chief security officers and a bodyguard were also on board the helicopter.

Bankole, who spoke in an interview with our correspondent in Abeokuta through his Special Adviser on Communication, Mr. Kayode Odunaro, denied that the incident was a case of crash landing but admitted that it was an emergency landing.

According to him, ‘It was a case of an emergency landing due to minor technical fault. Nobody was injured and as I speak with you, the speaker is on his way to Osogbo to attend today’s (Thursday) presidential rally using the same helicopter.”
