Arsenal and Liverpool target Eden Hazard has committed his future to French club Lille by signing a contract that will extend his stay at the Ligue 1 side until 2015.

The midfielder has had many of Europe’s top teams hot on his tail in recent months including Real Madrid, and has attracted a great deal of interest from many a Premier League club, with Chelsea also keeping tabs.

Lille are currently topping Ligue 1 with Hazard instrumental to their success so far and contributing three goals to the cause.

The 20-year-old Belgian international made his debut for the French club at the age of just 16 and has twice been voted the top flight’s young player of the year.

Arsene Wenger has been a long time admirer of the youngster, but has made it known that he would not be making any official enquiries until the end of the season.

Hazard himself has let it be known that Arsenal would be an ideal place to go to if he were to move on from Lille due to the way fellow youngsters have flourished through the London club’s development to become first-team stars.

He said recently: “If I do leave at the end of the season, I don’t want to go somewhere where I will be on the bench.

“I am young, not 20 until next month, and it will be difficult to break through in a team like Real, where Ronaldo and Kaka will be my competitors. But there are teams like Arsenal, where youngsters can grow more easily into the first team and make their mark.”
