The Independent National Electoral Commission in Anambra State, on Thursday said it was yet to receive any directive to change the list of candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
“We are yet to get a pronouncement from Abuja,” the state Public Relations Officer of INEC, Mr. Frank Egbo, told our correspondent in Awka.
An Awka High Court had on Tuesday vacated an ex parte order it made which restrained INEC from accepting the list of candidates submitted to it from Anambra State by the Peoples Democratic Party National Working Committee.
The NWC list included the names of Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu as Anambra South Senatorial candidate, Mrs. Margery Chuba-Okadigbo, for Anambra North and Mr. Chudi Offodile for Anambra Central.
But INEC has published the names of the list endorsed by the Benji Udeozor-led state executive committee, which is the committee recognised by the court.
The list adopted by INEC included the names of Dr. Andy Uba for Anambra South, Chief Ogugu Okeke for Anambra Central, and Mr. John Emeka for Anambra North.
Meanwhile, Uba was presented to the people of Anambra South as the PDP’s senatorial candidate at a well attended rally at Ajalli, Orumba North Local Government Area on Thursday.
