A new entrant into the race for the Ilorin South /Ilorin East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives for the April 2011 election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State, Dr. Ali Ahmed, has said that he joined the race to correct the shortcomings of preceding representatives.
Ahmed, a lawyer and former state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, who spoke to Daily Trust shortly after inaugurating his “Alheri” campaign team in Ilorin and Afon said his constituents deserved more than they got in the past.
“We have seen that for long, our people have been represented by people who had not been able to protect their interest at the national level. They win elections, go to Abuja to sit down and warm the bench,” he said.
“It is so disheartening; it’s so disappointing for the people of my constituency to see that their representatives never worked for any substantive federal project in this constituency and I think that those people deserve more,” he added.
