Fifa say they will not recognise the new executive committee of the Benin Football Federation installed early in February by a group from the former bureau who resigned last year, after an internal row with the FA President Anjorin Moucharafou.

“As we previously announced, the new structure will not be recognised by Fifa and CAF. Furthermore, we will not communicate with them henceforth. We kindly ask that you kindly convey our position to the Minister of Youth, Sport and Recreation,” Fifa said in a letter addressed to the Benin FA.

Benin Football Federation has been in disarray for months now following the resignation of 12 of its 15 members, who said they left the body due to the president’s autocratic manner of handling its business.

Consequently, the national leagues have been suspended. Preparations for the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers have been disturbed too.

A joint Fifa and CAF mediation couldn’t broker a peace deal after meeting both sides in Cotonou last January.
