Mr Muhammed Mumuni told the House 105 Ghanaians are expected home by midday today. He said four bus loads of Ghanaians, numbering about 200, are heading for the Libya-Egypt border to be evacuated.
A thousand more are gathered at the Tripoli International Airport to be flown home. There are about 15,000 Ghanaians in Libya currently. One hundred and fifty (150) of them have been brought home so far.
Mr Mumuni denied claims that the evacuation committee is charging 300 dollars from each evacuee before processing them for home.
He described the claim as a ‘discredited rumour’ aimed at sabotaging the evacuation exercise.
He also denies allegations that some Ghanaians were being used as mercenaries to fight for Gaddafi.
Mr Mumuni added that the consequences of that allegation, coupled with other logistical problems, frustrated the evacuation process in the beginning.
