THE National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BOT) members of KOWA Party have formally endorsed the adoption of Mr. Tajudeen Afolabi Adeola as running mate to Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Action Congress of Nigeria’s presidential candidate, in the upcoming elections in April 2011.

At the party’s NEC meeting in Abuja on Monday, the party leadership declared Mr Adeola’s selection as a critical move necessitated by the enormity of the task of rescuing Nigeria from its current desperate state, requiring bold and possibly unconventional approaches.

The party stated that its release of Mr Adeola and the latter’s acceptance of the call to serve is without prejudice to their commitment to the known ideals and vision of KOWA Party to institute good, capable, accountable and responsive governance, that is policy-driven and people focused.

A statement from the party said: “The consultations which resulted in Adeola’s nomination have concretised into a strategic understanding and co-operation between ACN and KOWA, details of which are still being worked out.

KOWA, according to the statement, will promote the Ribadu/Adeola ticket on ACN platform to institute the very much needed good governance and to present a viable alternative to broaden the scope of choice of progressive leadership for Nigerians come April 2011.

Adeola, a founding member of KOWA party, is a well-known national figure who has served Nigeria in private and public capacity. He was formerly Chairman of the National Pension Commission and before then was Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Bank. He is currently the Chairman of Main One Cable Company, and the founder of Fate Foundation.
