    Isaac Wilberforce Mensah, Spikey

Up and coming artiste, Spikey, born Isaac Wilberforce Mensah is set to take the Ghanaian scene by storm as he prepares to unleash his music onto the Ghanaian market.
With his music deeply rooted in Rap and R&B, this unique talent is hoping to change the face of the Ghanaian music scene with his fresh, untapped style and flows.
Born in Accra, he attended the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC- Legon) and then to the University of Ghana.
He became fully aware of the enormity of the talent he possessed during his first year in the university after he took part and won the Best MC or Best free stylist on campus competition.
This chap at a tender age took to admiring and criticizing already established artistes, growing increasingly aware of the fact that he could do better.
“When I was a kid, when someone was rapping, these times back in the days when LL Cool J was LL Cool J and you had Warren G and all those people, when they were rapping they put out a line and I was like it would have been better if you said it this way or that way so I figured may be I could do my own thing and do it the right way.”
Artistes in general acquire their showbiz names from personal experiences and situations, Spiky is no different. He explained that he got the nickname from his hair style when he was growing up.
“When I started rapping from childhood, my hair was really bushy and it was spiky and I still looked good even in the bushy hair so the name Spikey basically came off from there.”
In his bid to prove his preparedness for the Ghanaian music scene, Spikey has released his promo CD on to the market. He is currently feverishly putting finishing touches to his first album which is due for release May 14, his birthday.
The album, Unpredictable, recorded under 2Ligit Records, he says will open the doors to a future of non-stop action and music. He add, “I don’t restrict myself to one style that is why I am unpredictable, that is why the album is called Unpredictable. I am known for punch lines and metaphors.”
The 12-track album touches on his personality, life, the environment and social issues and has interesting tracks such as Taken, Owe me that, Too fine, Ma Number, LAFA and Unpredictable, the title track, and lots more.
Spikey is not looking at stopping in his tracks, he wants to further his education to further enrich his knowledge and skills.
