Over 200 youth followers of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region have defected to the incumbent NDC.
The NPP youth say they have decided to join the NDC in order to change the political trend in the region. They also claim the previous NPP government did little to develop the District, which forced them to defect.
The Leader of the Group Hayford Antwi told Citi News Kwabri has been the stronghold of the NPP for many years, but has seen no development. “We want people to know that the fact that you are from the Ashanti Region does not mean you should belong to a certain political party. Times have changed and so we have to change” he said.
The DCE for Kwabre East, Adams Idisa accepted the defected youth and promised to meet their expectations in terms of development.
Some 200 supporters of the NDC in the Asawase Constituency of the Ashanti Region, recently theatened to leave the NDC because their community has been neglected in terms of development.
