Array

A bizarre incident occurred at the Takoradi Circuit Court “A” on Wednesday when a remand prisoner, Kofi Issah, sneaked out of court and took to his heels when his case was called for hearing.

Issah, who had been remanded into prison custody on a defilement case for some few weeks now, and could not wait to have his freedom again, accelerated his speed as the police gave him a hot chase.

With quite an intelligent technique of escaping, he ignored taking the main streets and made his, way through “shortcuts” and headed towards the Takoradi Government Hospital.

Road passers stood by and watched in amazement as the potential hundred metres Olympics runner exhibited his talent.

The police pursued him and finally arrested him around the Takoradi Workers College.

He was arraigned the same day before circuit court “B” and was charged with escape from lawful custody.

Issah pleaded not guilty to the charge and this generated laughter in the courtroom.

The presiding judge, Mr. Charles Bamfo Nimako remanded Issah back into prison custody was expected to reappear in court on October 29, this year.
