Asante Kotoko Target Top Spot

Kumasi Asante Kotoko is hoping to go top of the league even with a game less when they play city rivals King Faisal at the Baba Yara stadium on Sunday.

The game is an away match for Kotoko which has been in fine form this season. King Faisal on the other hand has had a difficult start to their campaign and is clearly the underdog in the game. Owner of King Faisal Alhaji Grunzah is not giving up yet and believes they can beat Kotoko on Sunday. “Football is a game of chance for everybody and if you prepare well and God is with you, you can win, Insha Allah.”

Hearts of Oak return to the Accra Sports Stadium to face fifth place All Stars after last weekend’s draw with Dwarfs. The attacking department of the Phobians has looked blunt this term with Edwin Osei Pele struggling to replicate his performance in the top four competition. All Stars know it will be a difficult encounter but they are optimistic of victory.

Leaders, Kessben FC are involved in a must-win encounter with B.A Stars at the Essipong Stadium. Kessben must win to maintain their stay on top of the table but that will not come easy according to B.A Stars Coach Karim Zito. At the Kpando Park, Heart of Lions will welcome continental representatives Ashgold in a tricky encounter.

Ashgold which lost the league title vie the head to head rule last season is also struggling this season. Lions are motivated at the possibility of making a top three berth if they win and other results go their favour but Lions Coach Ken Botwe said he is aware of Ashgold’s threat.

Elsewhere, defending Champions Aduana Stars engage Ebusua Dwarfs at the Dormaa Park while New Edubiase play Chelsea of Bechem. RTU will welcome Liberty Professionals to the Tamale Stadium with Berekum Arsenals hosting Mighty Jets at the Golden City Park.
