Muntari keen to fight for Inter Milan place

Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari says he will stay to fight and regain his starting place at Italian giants Inter Milan.

The arrival of Tiago Motta from Genoa has pushed Muntari further down the pecking order at Inter, with some speculation that the Ghanaian could be sold.

Inter Milan have been impressive without the Ghanaian who has now been linked with a return to England to play for Tottenham.

“This is my job, this is what I do so I am not going to just allow my place to go away,” Muntari said.

“I have always said it depends on what we do in training and thankfully the boss saw enough to pick me for the Super Cup game in China so long may it continue.”

Despite Inter’s good showing in Europe as they defeated champions Barcelona 3-1 in the semi finals on Wednesday, their quest to retain the Serie A title is under serious threat from Roma.

With four matches remaining in the Italian top flight, Inter who are also gunning for the Champions League title, are one point behind the leaders Roma who have 71 points.

But Muntari insists there is still a chance Inter can overhaul Roma to claim the Serie A title as well as the Champions League with striker Samuel Eto’o in good form.

“We want to win everything we take part in so that is the target. Samuel can fire us there and I am very confident about that,” Muntari said.

“When you watch the things he does in training he is world class and I don’t think he will have problems in Serie A.”
