Judgement Day For Stars

Today is Judgement Day for Coach Milovan Rajevac who will face the wrath of Ghanaians if the Black Stars are kicked of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Angola, irrespective of the fact that the team is injury-ravaged.

Ghana need a win to qualify alongside Ivory Coast for the quarter finals as a draw against Burkina Faso today would mean the team would bid farewell to the Nations Cup.

The team struggled against tournament favorites Cote d’Ivoire without key players such as Sulley Muntari, skipper Stephen Appiah, John Mensah, Laryea Kingston and John Paintsil and it appears the absence of Michael Essien due to a knee injury could complicate matters for the team.

Indeed, the match is a make-or-break affair and any loss could affect the chances of the Serbian in taking the Stars to June’s Mundial in South Africa.

But Coach Rajevac told Ghanafa that “we must do our best to prepare for this game (against Burkina Faso) and win it.”

The Burkinabes have a formidable side with players such as Charles Kabore of Marseille of France and Issouf Ouattara of Uniao Leira in Portugal and might adopt the same tactics they employed when they played the Elephants, against the Ghanaians.

Meanwhile midfielder kingpin Anthony Annan and Bayer Leverkusen of Germany’s Hans Adu Sarpei might start today’s game after returning from injury.
