At times when you go to the field [and] you want to meet the women\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s wing,\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a6 you meet members of an NGO,\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d Mr Asiedu Nketia said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cThe NDC constitution recognises a fully-fledged women\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s wing and that is what we promised you,\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d he added and stressed that such a group \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cmust be able to generate its own programmes and carry them out.\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Launching his bid for re-election, Mr. Aseidu-Nketia suggested that the party\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s main women\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s wing has been hijacked. <\/p>\n<p>Sources within the party say his comment were in apparent reference to the 31st December Women\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s Movement, led by former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings but he rejected the suggestion assuring he does not intend to collapse the mnovement.<\/p>\n<p>The movement &#8211; whose main patron, former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings is seeking to be Vice-Chair of the party &#8211; has been the main organiser of the women\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s wing of the NDC, a situation sources say Mr Asiedu Nketia has not been happy about.<\/p>\n<p>The NDC General Secretary wants the women in the party to be independent from and capable of running their own chapters without the influence of other organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Source: Myjoyonline.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-257412","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.6 -
