THE NEW Patriotic Party (NPP) \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cThank you\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d train made a triumphant entry into Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital on Wednesday with a huge crowd following of the party to the Jackson Park where Nana Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the party in the last elections, together with other party bigwigs addressed the enthusiastic supporters.<\/p>\n
One interesting thing at the gathering that caught the attention of many was a supporter of the party who had dressed like a cleric with a huge \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00cb\u0153Bible\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 and a \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00cb\u0153cross\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 in his hand preaching the good \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00cb\u0153NPP gospel\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 to fellow supporters.<\/p>\n
Right in the middle of the NPP \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00cb\u0153Bible\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 was a picture of Nana Akufo-Addo on one side and the NPP chapter – chapter 1 verse 5 – which states, \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cNPP – We are still moving forward because God is our portion\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d.<\/p>\n
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, all the speakers, including Nana Akufo-Addo, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, the national chairman, Peter Mac Manu and the general secretary, Nana Ohene Ntow, stressed the need for the party to remain more united than ever, since it was only through unity that the party could win back power.<\/p>\n
Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey stated that the party must not waste its time trying to find scape goats and that the party should rather remain focused on preparation and activities towards the 2012 general elections.<\/p>\n
\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cThe NDC is bound to fail because of the lies they propagated to win power. We must be united and not fight amongst ourselves,\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d he remarked.<\/p>\n
Nana Ohene Ntow stated that the NDC is still telling lies that there is no money in the national coffers, explaining that the NPP left a huge reserve of about $1.6 billion and that the NDC should be able to pay all workers and not hide behind the \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00cb\u0153no money syndrome\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 to shirk its responsibilities.<\/p>\n
\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cUp till now, the people are finding it difficult to form their government because of divisions in their party,\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d he alleged, adding that Ghanaians are going to take them by their words.<\/p>\n
Nana Akufo-Addo told the crowd that the party would conduct thorough investigations into all allegations relating to the party’s failure to retain power, stressing that it would also be counter-productive for party members to continue to accuse certain officials of the party on radio and in newspapers.<\/p>\n
\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cWe need not wash our dirty linen in public because that will definitely affect the unity of the party,\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d he indicated, stressing that it is important for party faithful to show their loyalty to the party for the fight ahead.<\/p>\n
According to him, even he as the presidential candidate has not given up the fight because all of them are hopeful that the party will definitely win back power in 2012.<\/p>\n
