Ghana Hosts Insurance Confab

Josephine AmoahGhana and Gambia will take their turn to host the African Insurance Organisation in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

Ghana will host AIO’s 2009 Life Conference in Accra this week, with Gambia expected to host AIO General Assembly and Annual General Meeting in 2010.

Ghanaian Insurers Association (GIA) will see to the successful hosting of the life seminar, which began yesterday November 11, 2009 and expected to end on 14 November at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on the theme: “Gateway to Africa.”

Facilitators for the three-day conference include Ken Ofori Atta, the Executive Chairman of Data Bank Financial Services; Leonard Diop Frimpong, Chief Executive Officer of Metlife Insurance Company and Professor Stephen Adei, the immediate past rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.

Other speakers from Nigeria, South Africa, Mauritius and Zimbabwe will feature prominently at the conference.

Meanwhile, Gambia will host AIO conference after 16 years.

The country hosted the 20th African Insurance Organisation (AIO) conference in 1993.

However, preparations are in top gear to host the 37th AIO Conference/General Assembly in Gambia in 2010.
