Gabby Adjetey, former host of the Drive Time on Joy 99.7 FM, is back in the DJ’s saddle at the station serving hot hits of all genres.Gabby, still possessing of his alluring voice as an added flavour is on a three-week vacation to Ghana from the United Kingdom.
The tall, athletic-built lover of music tells of how he would use the next few days as a ‘refresher’ after his eight-year hiatus – he left the country in 2001. But
while he tags the period as time for honing his music playing skills, his dexterity behind the console is too obvious to disguise as a comeback try.
On Sunday, August 30, Gabby was up for Joy Beach Jam – which coincided with the Joy Old Skuuls Reunion beach party – and in three hours presented a seamless blend of hiplife, funk, reggae and in fact, everything – all in old school flavours.
His brief visit presents an excellent reference to the period 1996 to 2001 when he did the Drive Time and crafted the show as a personality-centred but an audience-focused one.
