The management also promises to support activities of civil society groups caring for the needy to help provide hope for the weak, adding that it is ready to help lift many people from destitution, deprivation and social malaise.

The General Manager of the station, Kwabena Yeboah Djan, told BEATWAVES after a fun games organized by the station that Pink is ready to change the current trend of radio broadcasting in the country through well-designed programmes, good music and motivated workforce.

“The station’s programmes would range from news, music, entertainment, sports, politics and social issues,” he stressed.

He noted that apart from providing 24-hour service to its listeners, the station also hopes to become a force to reckon with in the broadcasting industry.

The General Manager explained that the reason for which Pink FM was established is to give people in Accra, Kasoa and its environs a variety to choose from as most radio stations in the city have been doing almost the same thing.

“We think that in a situation like that, the listener is left with little choice and we think that should change. We believe that when things are done properly, and we plan to do things properly, we shall really make an impact here despite the fact that a lot of stations already exist in Accra.”

He hinted that the station has a state-of-the-art studio backed by seasoned presenters and disc jockey who are experienced, knowledgeable and talented.

According to him, the station which broadcasts 80 percent of local music and programmes and 20 percent for others is managed by a team of experts from administration, finance, legal and marketing.

He stated that the goal of the station is to make listeners recognize it as the viable and sustainable music-oriented station in Ghana today.

On his part, the Operations Manager of the station, Yaw Asempa-Boateng said the station has a number of educative programmes to be aired soon, adding that the station could boost of good presenters whose work is being recognized by myriad radio listeners.

“We think there is room for business, and those who know how well to do it will do well. It will be difficult, we know, but we have taken it as a challenge and we promise to give our listeners the best radio experience,” he said.
