Hamburg Defender Alex Silva Not Ready For Milan

The recent rumours regarding his possible arrival at Malpensa airport this year have been met with caution by a member of Goal.com Germany...AC Milan have recently been linked with a move for Hamburg defender Alex Silva, but some pundits do not believe the player is capable of contributing to a top European outfit.

“He has a really strange character and has caused some problems within his team. I believe that right now he is not ready for a top European club,” suggested Sebastien Heier of Goal.com Germany.

“In short, he has not grown enough to be associated with a great club like the Rossoneri.”

Heier pointed to Silva’s attitude as a stumbling block, but does accept the player has the potential to one day complete a move to an outfit of greater calibre.

“In recent weeks, there has been a lot of talk about him because he refuses to play as a defensive midfielder. He exclusively wants to play in defense.

“To me, he is a good player, especially in terms of potential, but he must definitely improve from what he has accomplished this season.”

The 24-year-old transferred to Hamburg this past summer after two successful years at Sao Paulo. Nonetheless, it appears with Paolo Maldini retiring and the constant fitness worries of Alessandro Nesta, the Rossoneri may look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.
