Edumadze Eyes Npp Top Post

Isaac EdumadzeISAAC EDUMADZE, former Central Regional Minister is expected to contest for the enviable and energy sapping position of the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when the party assembles to elect a new set of national officers for the 2012 general elections, DAILY GUIDE has gathered.

DAILY GUIDE has also learnt that a lot of party big-wigs are tirelessly encouraging Edumadze who is also a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ajumako/Enyan/Essiam to run for the position as he is seen as a man with immense

organisational ability and fearless character like many others who can aptly match the “canny tactics” of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

As regional minister, Edumadze was variously described by political watchers as “the Hercules” and “Rambo” because of his leadership style and zeal to get things done without delay.

Under his leadership and with massive financial support from party financier like Kennedy Agyepong, MP for Assin North, NPP was able to sweep the Central Regional votes in the 2004 elections and his sympathizers believe the time has come for him to use his enthusiasm to help propel NPP back to power, come the next elections.

The quest for Isaac Edumadze to run for national office has been boosted with open support from a group calling itself ‘Friends of Isaac Edumadze’ (FOIE).

In a release, the group noted that it was time for NPP supporters to make the right choices at the national level in order to see the great party back in power.

“Upon a critical analysis and scrutiny of some names that have been dropped to be considered as national organizers of the party, our final observation is that Hon. Isaac Edumadze should be supported against all others to come and organise this party back to power”, Friends of Isaac Edumadze observed.

According to them, as followers of party politics, they have come to realise and appreciate the fact that Central Region has become a swing region for sometime now, which decides the political party that should come to power. “It would therefore not be out of place to make Hon. Isaac Edumadze, who hails from the Central region, the next national organizer and who again in no doubt, can maneuver his way through or do the ground work in that region and Ghana as a whole for NPP to win,” the group suggested.

It stated that Edumadze, the longest serving minister in the Central Region as compared to previous regimes or during President Kufour’s administration, helped the NPP to chalk a lot of political successes.

NPP, the group stated, should not repeat the mistakes of the past by sidelining Edumadze, adding “we all can be witnesses or attest to the disaster that occurred to the NPP when some elements within the party attempted to bring him down through falsehood”.

Further extolling his virtues, the group noted that “Isaac Edumadze has a good rapport with chiefs, fisher folks, youths and market women in the Central region and had attended to almost all by-elections and made sure there was victory at places he worked most of the time”.

The group believes that judging from the capabilities of Edumadze in his capacity as a former regional minister; NPP will not suffer any shortfall in anyway but rather attain good work and better results, should the party elect him as the next national organiser.

“It is our clarion call that, no matter the consideration one will make from now till the time of the NPP congress in December, the only person capable and competent enough to organise the party is Hon. Isaac Edumadze and he should stand tall among all others seeking to be the organisers of the NPP in order to move the great party forward,” the group concluded.
