Boampong gets Numancia call

Ghana starlet Philip Boampong has been handed a two-week trial by struggling Spanish La Liga side Numancia.

The 18-year-old defender is expected to leave by the close of the week and could sign a two-year contract if he impresses the technical team.

Boampong was a member of Ghana’s Under-20 team that won this year’s African Youth Championship in Rwanda.

He is on loan at Berekum Arsenals and he is confident of making the grades.

“I am excited about this prospect and am looking forward to making an impact with the club,” Boampong told Ghanasoccernet.

” It is a great opportunity for me and I can’t afford to disappoint myself and my family.

“I don’t think my chairman will have problems because am on loan at Arsenals and they are happy for me,” he added.

“Am not worried about my position with the Black Satellites if I get a deal and will always respond to the national duty when am called upon.”

Numancia are currently placed 19th on the Spanish League table and have relegation staring at them.
