The biggest modeling agency in Ghana with over 1000 local and international registered models, Exopa, last Tuesday launched its annual Ghana Fashion Weekend event at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The ceremony attracted very prominent celebrities, fashion designers, models and ministers of state for Tourism, Trade and Industry including music diva Becca, the hiplife grandpapa Reggie Rockstone, actress and CEO of Eagle Productions Juliet Asante, Tony Baffour and Joyce Ababio, among others.
Speaking at the event, Sima Ibrahim, CEO of the Exopa Modeling Agency, gave the assurance that this yearÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s event would come with colour, style and glamour, adding that it is expected to be spectacular and the biggest event to ever hit the fashion industry.
The four-day event, packed with a lot of activities, will commence on July 1 and end on the 4 of the same month, with the main event slated for the Accra International Conference Centre.
Under the theme Ã¢â‚¬Å“Harnessing Creative Talents Within Africa,Ã¢â‚¬Â the entire show is aimed at unearthing talents, boosting interest as well as showcasing opportunities and making the Ghanaian fashion industry a sustainable source of employment for the youth.
On the programme line-up are modeling shows, fashion exhibitions and musical as well as soccer activities.
The event would parade over 30 top designers with 10 from the international scene. Among them would be American superstar Boris Kodjoe, who has a Ghanaian background.
There will also be top African designers like Alphady from Niger, Modela from Nigeria and Ousman Doumbia from Cote dÃ¢â‚¬â„¢Ivoire as well as GhanaÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s own Joyce Ababio among others. There will also be exciting performances from music icons like Reggie Rockstone, Becca and Kwaw Kese.
