Confidence scoops Monte Carlo artwork

Confidence interacting with members of the NGOMadam Confidence Haugen of Afrodisiac Nightclub fame has scooped an artwork meant for Sally Monte Carlo when she donated an undisclosed amount of money towards the Pamela Bridgewater Project, a proposed girls’ school at Tampion in the Savelugu/Nanton District of the Northern region.

Sally Monte Carlo was originally scheduled to pick the artwork after making her donation, but the Afrodisiac Nightclub boss, beat her to it.

Speaking to Beatwaves, Madam Hague explained why every Ghanaian should join hands in support of the project.

“The provision of proper educational and vocational facilities in the north will surely halt the movement of the ‘kayayo’ girls to the south in search of non-existent jobs and accommodation, and in the process, they get caught up in the web of disease and teenage pregnancy.”

Mr Sukar Ahmed, a member of the Kunata Voluntary Organization, thanked Madam Hague for her support and invited others to be part of what he called “a laudable cause”.

Some where last year, the Kunata Voluntary Organization, the non-governmental organization that initiated the girl-child project, launched a fundraising art exhibition at the African Regent Hotel in aid of the school, which is estimated to cost GH¢800,000.

Currently, the NGO is selling artworks to individuals and organizations with the proceeds to be used for the project in an ‘Un-naked’ fundraising documentary film to be shared with the Black Entertainment TV (BET) in Washington for another stage of the programme.

In a related issue, the NGO has announced that there will be an auction of the Bridgewater Project artwork at Champs Sports Bar at Paloma on 15th May 2009, between 8:00pm and 10:00pm before the Karaoke night.
