A woman accused of injecting bleach into patients at a Texas dialysis center has been indicted on capital murder and aggravated assault charges.
Kimberly Saenz is accused of killing up to five patients who died last year while she was an employee at the DaVita dialysis center in Lufkin, about 120 miles north of Houston, according to an Angelina County indictment released Wednesday. She is accused of causing “bodily harm” to five other patients.
“Our patients and their caregivers have been outraged at how the alleged actions of one person have caused so much pain and trauma to so many,” a company statement said.
Saenz’s attorney, John Henry Tatum II, did not immediately return calls from CNN on Wednesday.
Saenz, 35 — who was fired in April 2008 — is being held without bond, according to CNN affiliate KTRE in Lufkin.
The spate of deaths forced DaVita to close its doors on April 28, 2008. The center reopened in July after meeting state requirements.
