SA referee for Stars-Benin game

South African referee Daniel Bennett has been appointed will be in charge of the joint 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup qualifying match between Ghana and Benin in Kumasi on Sunday.

He will be assisted by his compatriots Rezees Andrew and Ebrahim A. Basit in the opening Group D game at the Baba Yara Stadium at 17:00GMT.

Malebo Toko, also from South Africa is the fourth official for the match while the Gambia’s Kinteh Seedy is selected as the match commissioner.

He was voted 2000/2001 ‘South Africa Premier League Referee of the Season’ and has been an international referee since 2003.
 
Ghana are one of the favourites from the group which also includes Sudan and Mali for the sole qualifying ticket to the 2010 World Cup to be hosted by South Africa.
