I’m Not Here To Witch-Hunt

NEWLY-APPOINTED BRONG AHAFO Regional Minister, Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, has assured heads of departments in the region that he would not use his position to intimidate persons perceived to have different political ideologies.  

“I’m not here to witch-hunt anybody…I am not interested in that,” he stated categorically.

Addressing heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Sunyani on Wednesday, Mr. Nyamekye-Marfo called on senior public servants to eschew their political differences and work towards achieving the programmes and policies of the government, in order to better the lives of the people in the region.  

According to him, civil servants should not allow their political inclinations to override government business.  

He explained that civil servants have the constitutional obligations to help the government of the day in the successful implementation of its policies and programmes, and should therefore not allow their political colours to impede their work.  

Mr. Nyamekye-Marfo challenged the heads of the MDAs to work hard and remain focused in their quest to develop the region.

He assured them of an open-door transparent administration, where criticisms and advice would be considered to help create a common forum to tackle the numerous developmental challenges facing the region.  

The Regional Minister further asked the department bosses to intensify their supervisory roles to ensure efficiency at the various departments and agencies.  

He advised them to open-up to their subordinates, as well as develop special interest in the welfare of their subordinates as a way of motivating them to give their best.  

Mr. Nyamekye-Marfo used his maiden meeting with the department heads to suggest, among others, the establishment of welfare funds, rejuvenation of workers durbars and the establishment of quarterly clean-up exercises at all the departments and agencies across the region.  

The initiatives, he noted, would help address the concerns and welfare of workers and also ensure cleanliness at work places.

In response, the MDA heads assured the minister of their unflinching support and commitment towards the smooth implementation of the various government policies and programmes.
