My Life Is In Danger

Ekow SackeySuspected National Democratic Congress (NDC) thugs that allegedly attacked and wounded Ekow Sackey, the Asem Electoral Area Assemblyman in the Subin Constituency in the Kumasi Metropolis, are said to be planning to kill him.

Fear-gripped Hon. Sackey insisted that his life was in great danger because information available to him indicated that his blood-thirsty attackers were bent on taking away his dear life anytime soon.

This shocking and not-too-pleasant revelation, he disclosed, had forced him to abandon his house, taking refuge at an unknown place in the city.

Aka ‘Ogede’, Hon Sackey, it would be recalled, suffered severe cutlass wounds when suspected NDC thugs led by one CD, a machoman, launched a heinous attack on him last Monday night.
Ogede who was relaxing in his room when he was attacked bled profusely at the end of the incident.

He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi where he was treated and discharged the following day.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE from his hideout, the Assemblyman bemoaned that his detractors were still moving about freely almost a week after unjustifiably attacking him, and wondered why the police were not apprehending his attackers though he had formally lodged a complaint with them.

He added that his continual call for police protection had hit deaf ears, lamenting that the police were dragging their feet in bringing the people who are after his life to book.

The police’s inactiveness, he contended, had encouraged his attackers to plan to take away his life as “they have realized the police can not arrest them that is why they want to kill me”.

Asked what he thought might have necessitated the bloody attack on his life, the Assemblyman alleged that CD, the gang leader, had warned him to hand-over the toilet keys at Bompata to him now that the NDC has won political power else he would physically attack him.

Hon. Sackey appealed to the hierarchy of the Police Service to critically look into his case so as to ensure that his attackers were brought to book
Ogede, who has plasters all over his head, noted that he still felt severe pains in his head, notably during night, adding that he hardly slept in the night.

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) die-hard, Ogede did not rule out partisan politics as being the reason for his attack, saying, “they attacked me because I belong to the NPP”.

He appealed to the NPP leadership, especially Nana Akufo-Addo and Peter Mac Manu, the National Chairman, to assist him get proper treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
