Ghana won their third African Youth Championship title with a 2-0 win over Cameroon in Sunday’s final in Rwanda.
Both goals came from Ransford Osei, who ended as the tournament’s top goalscorer with seven strikes.
Samuel Inkoom set up both goals, the first coming from his run along the goal-line, with Osei smashing in the pass in the 23rd minute.
Inkoom made a swift run down the right on 86 minutes and sent over a perfect cross, for Osei to tap in.
Cameroon could have equalised just before the hour mark, but with the ball sailing towards the net, Jonathan Mensah made a spectacular overhead clearance.
The game was played in front of a full house at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
Five-time champions Nigeria beat South Africa 2-1 in Saturday’s third-place play-off.
Midfielder George Maluka opened the scoring for the South Africans on eight minutes with a long drive.
But the Flying Eagles rallied and restored parity through Rabiu Ibrahim before Frank Temile’s effort on the stroke of half time secured the victory.
