Poldi: “I want to leave Bayern Munich in January!”

Lukas PoldolskiLukas Poldolski has issued a “come and get me” plea to Europe’s top clubs after handing in a transfer request to Bayern Munich.

he star of World Cup 2006 and Euro 2008 has had a difficult spell at the Bundesliga champions and has never managed to hold down a place in the starting line up.

Although Bayern’s general manager Uli Hoeness has insisted that no players will be leaving in the January transfer window, Podi has other plans.

He told BILD: “I have already decided that I will change team in the winter. I have already told the club that I want to leave.”

Despite being a regular under Jogi Loew in the German national side, Podolski has played very little football for Bayern and has again spent most of the season on the bench.

Rumours that the club are after fellow German international striker Mario Gomez from Stuttgart, having already brought in US forward Landon Donovan on loan, have made up Poldi’s mind that his future lies elsewhere.

Manchester City, supposedly now the world’s richest team, and Premier League strugglers Tottenham Hotspur are both reportedly interested in the €15 million-rated player, whose contract runs until 2010, and now look likely to step up their interest in January.
