Ellys Patamia is the latest artiste to release an album, after the likes of Praye, Samini, Ofori Amponsah, Kofi B and some Gospel stars had released theirs prior to the Christmas season.
The album which is his fourth is tiled “Pretty Girl.†The chap is not new in show business as he used to be known in the industry as Tatale since 2000, after his first release – ‘Se wodo mea be fi ma no.’ However he now prefers using his real name Ellys.
Ellys started singing from senior high school and managed to drop his debut in 2000 after school. It however did not end there as he went on to release two more albums.
Unfortunately those albums froze as they did not get anywhere. He explained that it was because he could not get producers to assist him and also he could not afford paying payola.
‘Pretty Girl’ is his fourth in 9 years. The young man, in an exclusive interview with Beatwaves, indicated he was anxious to make everyone aware he is the newest thriller in the year 2009. He believes the album would capture public interest in no time if it gets the necessary airplay.
The 9-track album has interesting hip-hop tunes, all sung in English.
“We also do our music in local languages and they cannot cross into the international market. Yes, people would dance to it but they don’t understand what we say in our music. So I decided to sing in English alongside looking out for good management to help package myself to attract the international listener.
“P-Square and 2face are making it big out there because they have also sung in English and most people could understand and sing along anywhere their music is played.â€Â
Produced by Amazing Music Production, the album has songs like ‘Pretty Girl’, the title track, its remix featuring Reggie Zippy, as well as ‘Jah Bless Me’, ‘Ellys, No more Cry’ and others.
Ellys expects “the new project would go far so that I will also be able to rub shoulders with the likes of Akon, 2face, P-square and the other international big shots. I am dreaming big with this album because it is tight. This should be my break through,†he said.
