Black Stars Prepares For World Cup

Black Stars of GhanaThe Black Stars are set to begin feverish preparations towards the 2010 World Cup qualifying series. According to Fred Pappoe, chairman of the Black Stars management committee and Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), some top-notch friendly matches will be put in place to prepare the Stars adequately for the World Cup qualifying series.

Ghana has been drawn in group 4 with Benin, Mali and Sudan.

Mr. Pappoe said some players are still being monitored and would be invited to beef up the team.

Defender Isaac Vorsah of surprise package in the German Bundesliga, TSV Hoffenheim of Germany and Moussa Narry of French outfit, AJ Auxerre are some of the players being considered for call ups, the chairman of the Black Stars management committee said.

“Though these players failed to turn up for the last Black Stars trial match against Tunisia in Accra, they are still important to our feature assignments.”

Recently, the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) claimed they have reached an agreement with the GFA.

“We have finalized all the details for this match in Nigeria. It is a FIFA window for friendly matches,” said the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Association, Bolaji Ojo-Oba.

The Egyptian Football Association had also said that the Pharaohs of Egypt will welcome the Black Stars in Cairo on February 11.

Mr. Pappoe did not deny these arrangements, but explained that at the appropriate time, the FA would come out with the fixture for the Stars.
