The youth have been urged to avail themselves of the rich experience of
\nthe elderly in society to help secure a successful future.<\/p>\n
Mr
\nAbdul Karim Boakye-Yiadom, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asante
\nAkim South, who made the call said, sharing the experiences of
\nsuccessful elders was a pre-requisite for a bright future.<\/p>\n
He said the elders should guide the youth to curb the increasing social vices, which were most often perpetrated by the youth.<\/p>\n
The
\nDCE was speaking at a get-together, organized for 120 senior citizens
\nas part of activities to mark Republic Day at Juaso on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The
\nget-together was preceded by a football gala among some selected
\ncommunities, which the Obogu community won and received a cash prize of
\nGH¢ 100.<\/p>\n
Mr Boakye-Yiadom noted that the get-together, which
\nwas instituted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government on
\nassumption of office, was in recognition of the contribution of Senior
\nCitizens towards national development.<\/p>\n
He urged senior
\ncitizens in the district to bring their experience to bear on the
\nassembly’s programmes by taking part in activities within their
\nlocalities.<\/p>\n
Nana Ayim Kumnipa, Chief of Gyadam Traditional
\nArea, who chaired the function, entreated the assembly to involve
\nchiefs in its meeting, to ensure that their concerns were factored into
\nthe assembly’s development plans.<\/p>\n
He expressed his concern
\nabout the inability of Assembly Members to share their deliberations, a
\npractice, which defeats their positions as elected officers
\nrepresenting the people.<\/p>\n
