The Ghana High Commission in London has
re-opened following the completion of renovation works carried out over
an 11month period. The Chancery has therefore moved from its temporary
premise at High Gate back to Belgrade Square in Central London.
The
High Commissioner, Annan Cato said the mission now has a state of the
art security technology built into the old architectural plan compared
to its status in 1957 when the building was first released by the
estate to the government of Ghana. He said it also conforms to the
maintenance agreement with the estate agency.
The Foreign
Affairs Minister, Akwasi Osei Adjei said it has been the policy of his
ministry to use the missions abroad to promote Ghanaian businesses. He
said similar arrangements of Made in Ghana goods will be decorated
especially at newly built or renovated Embassies and High Commissions.
The
High Commissioner later hosted a cross-section of the Ghanaian Media
and Community leaders in London to a reception and a tour on the
building. He debunked the allegation that government had sold the
chancery because it had gone bankrupt.
