Kufuor Predicts Massive Win

Nana in a massive crowdPRESIDENT John Agyekum Kufuor has predicted an emphatic win for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for Sunday’s  presidential elections.

He expressed confidence that Nana Addo would record the biggest ever electoral victory in the history of the party come December 7.

The First Gentleman of the country indicated that against the backdrop of the government’s excellent performance in office, people who hitherto did not adore the ruling party were now clamoring for it.

“I’ve traveled the length and breadth of this country for the past two weeks and I can assure you that your beloved party, because of its good works, had grown in strength in areas which previously were considered ‘no go’ areas for us,” President Kufuor stressed.

He mentioned some of the waterloo areas in which the ruling party had made serious inroads as the Volta and three northern regions of the country.

Addressing a record crowd of party supporters in the Ashanti region on Sunday at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi, the immediate past chairman of the African Union (AU) described Nana Addo as the finest person to succeed him.

Emphasizing that he had laid a solid foundation, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces averred that God had chosen Nana Addo to take the baton of Presidency from him and propel the nation to greatness in all aspects of national development.

Stressing that he was all for Nana Addo, President Kufuor enjoined the electorate to give him a wonderful birthday present on December 8 by voting resoundingly to retain the NPP in office.

The Number One Citizen of the land cautioned those who would want to foment trouble before, during and after the elections to beware, emphasizing that the security agencies were wide awake and ready to crush such miscreants.

Taking his turn to address the elated multitude of party faithful and sympathizers, Nana Addo requested the observation of a minute’s silence in memory of the late Finance and Economic Planning Minister, Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu and all departed souls of the party.

He again commended President Kufuor for his visionary leadership which had set the nation on the right track to socio-economic emancipation.

The former Attorney General and Foreign Affairs Minister described the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a party full of unproductive, unambitious and noncreative persons.

He said because the NDC markedly demonstrated whilst in office that it was infertile, they could not pinpoint any particular monumental achievement, unlike the NPP whose works were there for all to see and feel.

The NPP flagbearer contended that Ghanaians, having tasted sound governance under the leadership of President Kufuor, would not vote to bring the NDC back into office.

Still jabbing the Rawlings-founded party, the legal luminary frowned on the refrain that the NDC was a new party, emphasizing that there was no way the party could change so far as ex-President Rawlings continued to be an influential figure in it.

Stressing that his government would be committed to the creation of equal opportunities for all, Nana Addo pledged to create more jobs as a way of generating wealth in the country.

Nana Addo’s running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on his part observed that the NPP was a party that always sought the betterment of the electorate and thus deserved to be retained in power.

He promised to partner effectively with Nana Addo particularly on the economic front so that the achievements made in that sector could be translated into real growth for all and sundry.

National Chairman of the party, Peter Mac Manu in his brief address urged the electorate to disregard the NDC’s trumpeted fear that the NPP had planned to rig the forthcoming polls.

He said the NPP would never attempt to steal the mandate of the people so as to stay in power, pointing out that the outstanding track record of the party would win the upcoming polls for it.

Other speakers were Nana Ohene Ntow, General Secretary of the party; Hon Yaw Osafo Maafo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim-Oda; Alan Kyerematen, former Trade and Industry Minister; Kennedy Agyepong, MP for Assin-North; Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former Press Secretary to the President; and a host of other party stalwarts.

The mammoth rally which concluded the party’s political activities in the Ashanti region was attended by ecstatic supporters and admirers who wore various party paraphernalia.
