Yahaya Is A Problem Child …Kotoko Chief

Interim Manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Samuel Opoku Nti has described defender-turned-striker Yahaya Mohammed as a problem child.

The former Ghana international hinted that parting ways with their most-priced asset (Yahaya) speaks volumes of his attitude.

He indicated that the club parted ways with the dread-locked player due to his contract expiration with the Porcupine Warriors and not because of player-management tension as bandied about.

Nti, a former player of Kotoko, whose only goal handed the Porcupine Warriors their last continental silverware in 1983, said on Happy FM that management decided to sever their marriage with the ex Tema Youth/Nice player purely on disciplinary grounds.

The Kotoko chief indicated that issuing a press statement on the Yahaya Mohammed matter will be the best way to clear the air.

“I think issuing out a press statement on Yahaya will help clear the air. Yahaya is a very, very troublesome player. Not only is he troublesome to management, but his colleagues; and the technical team will bear me witness.

“We are through with him, and that’s all. We want to make a statement that no one is indispensable. We played most of our matches without him, getting to the end of the league, yet we won the league.

“My brother, I don’t think you have enough time on your program for us to discuss Yahaya. May be I have to issue out a press statement to clarify issues.”

Nti added: “We don’t want to stop him, we allowed him to go because his contract with us has come to an end.”

Yahaya distinguished himself in the last Championship of Nations (CHAN) in South Africa, resulting in his pre-contract signing with a Libyan side early this year.
