Tale as old as time…

If you’re a lover of Walt Disney World, or any of the Disney Parks, you know that we’ve arrived at the time of year we all hate – the dreaded price hike on admission!

Yes, once a year, the House of Mouse decides it’s time that guests need to shell out even more to experience all the magic and wonder that Walt dreamt up, but this week marks a milestone for the company. As of yesterday, it will cost you a solid $100 bucks (plus tax) to enter the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, FL. It’s a steep price, one that probably has many people shaking their heads in dismay and even vowing to cancel any future plans to visit the most magical place on Earth.

But those people are in the minority.

Fact is fact – the price to visit the Magic Kingdom will always be on the rise, but so will the public’s desire to visit it’s seven wondrous lands of fun and fantasy. It’s become a right of passage for families to make the trek to central Florida and once you’ve been bitten by the bug, it’s really hard to shake the urge to visit again and again.

So, in the grand scheme of things, this probably won’t deter many from visiting the park, but if YOU’RE on the fence, allow us to provide you with these 10 reasons that will make you feel better about your wallet being 100 bucks lighter:

10. Two Words: Dole Whip

Ask any true Disney Parks enthusiast and they’ll tell you that having the signature pineapple soft-serve swirl is a religious experience – one you can only have in three places in the entire WORLD: Disneyland, Disney World and Dole Plantation in Hawaii. The Magic Kingdom’s version is extra special as you can have it swirled with vanilla or orange ice cream. You’ll have it once and you’ll ask yourself how you ever lived life without it.

9. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress

In 1964, Walt brought 4 attractions to the New York’s World Fair – this was one of them. The rotating theater takes audiences through a journey to a “great, big beautiful tomorrow,” showing the progression of technology from the beginning of the 20th century to the future. Now, that might seem kind of boring to you, and considering Space Mountain is 50 paces to the left, you might be inclined to skip it. But consider this: It is one of the only attractions at Walt Disney World to have been touched by Walt Disney himself. It also has been said that this was Walt’s favorite ride conceived for the parks. You got to appreciate the historical significance!

8. The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Ride Is Opening!!!

Now, from something old to something BRAND NEW! Opening this year, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Ride will combine the whimsy of Walt’s first animated feature with the thrills of a roller coaster. It’s the first of it’s kind and it’s opening will mark the completion of the widely regarded magical expansion of new Fantasyland. This will be what every thrill seeker will be buzzing about this year, that’s for certain! So… don’t be left out!

7. Put The Service To The Test At Be Our Guest Restaurant

Since you’re in the area anyway, you should dine at Beast’s Castle, more formally known as the Be Our Guest Restaurant. Yes, this is an added expense to the 100 bucks you spent to get in, but… c’mon! When else are you going to get the chance to live your Beauty and the Beast fantasies! One look around the magnificent ballroom and you’ll forget all about amount of dough it took to get you there. Oh, be sure to try the grey stuff. It’s true what they say – it’s delicious!

6. The Mountains: Disney’s Frontier

Space. Splash. And Big Thunder. All classic attractions, all perfectly themed, all thrilling for anyone of any age. If there is one thing that Disney does best, it’s making sure that no matter who you are, you’re going to have a good time when you enter the park. Fun Fact: While Splash and Big Thunder Mountain first opened in Disneyland, Space Mountain actually opened in the Magic Kingdom first! Most people assume because it’s an iconic staple of the parks that it got its start in California. Not so. These are must do’s upon arrival!

5. Mickey’s Philharmagic (Wordplay!)

At the end of the day, what are you really spending a 100 bucks on? Nostalgia! No better place to get a heaping dose of your childhood then at this 4D show in the middle of Fantasyland. Yes, we said 4D. Take that, IMAX! (Also, the show is in ultra-mega IMAX!) Perfect place to relive some of your favorite moments from the golden age of Disney films and spend 15 minutes while your waiting for your Fast Pass time at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (did we mention we’re excited for this?!)

4. You Can Cross Swords With Jack Sparrow

No, not Johnny Depp – Captain Jack Sparrow. Shockingly, there is a difference. Once you’ve gotten all the “YO-HOS!” out of you after riding Pirates of the Caribbean, you can actually learn how to be a member of the scurvy crew form Captain Jack himself. Okay, sure, maybe it’s supposed to be more for the kiddies, but so what? Who cares? You paid your way in – you want to get in on the fun, go right ahead!

3. Fireworks That Will Make You Weep

You’ve never seen the night sky light up with more wonder and grace until you’ve seen Wishes! After a long day fighting the crowds and standing in line for what seems like forever, the magic of the place might actually start to wane … until you look up and see thousands of fireworks surround Cinderella Castle! It’s pretty much visible from anywhere in the park, but obviously, the best place to enjoy it is on Main Street U.S.A. You can see it 100 times and it will never get boring!

2. YOU CAN MEET BASICALLY ANY DISNEY CHARACTER YOU CAN THINK OF!

Love Tinkerbell? She’s there! How about Aladdin? For sure! Buzz Lightyear, Stitch, Mary Poppins, any and EVERY princess, Winnie The Pooh – the list is endless. But don’t you dare leave without taking a pic with the guy who started it all, Mickey Mouse.

1. Bragging Rights!

Excuse you? You took off work and went to DISNEY WORLD? You spent a day doing all this cool stuff?! The world will be JEALOUS of your awesomeness! Every picture you put on Instagram will be liked but secretly loathed. Every Facebook status will be given the thumbs up while somewhere NOT in the Magic Kingdom, someone is giving their own life the thumbs down. Revel in it all!

And take lots of pictures!!! :)
