Angelina Jolie spent years searching for a story inspiring enough to make into a film. Little did she know, she had an AH-Mazing movie just waiting to be told right in her own backyard!

Her upcoming flick Unbroken is the A-lister’s second shot at directing and will be released later this year. It tells the story of former Olympic champion and World War II hero Louis Zamperini who survived the unthinkable while stranded at sea off the coast of Asia!

But it wasn’t until after she heard about Louis’ harrowing tale that Angie also discovered her 97-year-old subject happened to be her neighbor!

Jolie explained:

“I’ve been sitting in my room laying there thinking, ‘What am I supposed to be doing with my life? I wanna do something important. I need some help. I need some guidance. Where is it?’ And it was right outside my window.”

What a coincidence!

The two are now as close as can be, greeting each other with hugs, kisses and, ‘I love yous.’

Aw!

They both sat down with Tom Brokaw to discuss Unbroken and the incredible life that Louis has had, which includes meeting Adolf Hitler AND escaping from a Japanese POW prison!

It sounds like Angelina found the story she was looking for!
