Why Osun rescued Prime –Commissioner
Osun State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Special Needs, Mr Stephen Kola-Balogun, has said that the state government has not taken over Prime Football Club, Osogbo.
His clarification, on Tuesday, in Osogbo, came on the heels of a statement by a former General Manager of the club, Gbenga Ololade, who faulted the “takeover of Prime by the state government.”
Prime are representing Nigeria in this year’s West African Football Union competition.
Kola-Balogun said that the state government directed Osun Football Association and the state’s sports council to oversee the management of the team, following a clarion call for financial assistant by the club’s owner, Osogbo Local Government Council.
He said, “Being a prudent, accountable and transparent administration, the state government did not want to throw money at the team because that might not solve the problem.”
