Why Ebusua Dwarfs is relegated after week 29
Ebusua Dwarfs have been eliminated for the Ghana Premier League after match day 29 per the head to head application.
Dwarfs were beaten 1-0 at the the Essipong Sports Stadium on Sunday by Hasaacas and that makes their final home match against inter Allies inconsequential.
Dwarfs are on 34 points and a win against the Tema boys will send them to 37 points expecting both King Faisal and Aduana Stars who are on 37 points apiece to lose their match day 30 against Berekum Chelsea in Kumasi and Asante Kotoko at Dormaa, respectively.
This is where the mathematical calculation or the head to head application comes in. The rule states that when three clubs are on the same points you have to take into consideration only matches played among the three clubs.
The first thing to look at is the points earned among themselves, then the next thing is goals scored and goals conceded, before you settle on goals difference. If nothing separates the teams after all these criteria are considered then, the team that scored more goals among themselves would top the group of three.
Matches played among Ebusua Dwarfs, Asante Kotoko and King Faisal
Dwarfs 1-0 King Faisal
Faisal 2-0 Aduana stars
Aduana 3-0 Dwarfs
Faisal 2-1 Dwarfs
Aduana 1-0 Faisal
Points Goals scored Goals conceded Goals difference
Aduana 6 4 3 + 1
King Faisal 6 4 3 +1
Ebusua Dwarfs 6 3 5 -2
From the table above Dwarfs is relegated
This means that a win for Dwarfs with the two other clubs losing will make the head to head be shifted to Faisal and Aduana since both clubs have equal head to head among the three clubs (Dwarfs, Faisal and Aduana)
In this case King Faisal will go through because they have superior head to head against Aduana Stars
Faisal 2-0 Aduana stars
Aduana 1-0 Faisal.
All these calculations would be of importance if Dwarfs wins, while the two clubs (Aduana and Faisal lose on match day 23)
After match day 29 both Amidaus Professionals and Ebusua Dwarfs have been condemned to relegation.
Dwarfs after a successful campaign last season that earned them a 4th place on the league log and consequent earned a qualification to compete in the CAF Confederations Cup, they have been relegated back to the 1st division.
They qualified back to the premier league in the 2010/11 season, but like 2000 that a successful CAF Cup campaign enabled them to get to the semi finals, they were relegated and again after qualifying for CAF Confederation cup which they even managed to skip the prelims, relegation has swallowed them again.
