We expected more from the President’s address – some traders noted

Accra, Feb. 22, GNA – Some traders and drivers at the Neoplan Station on Friday said though the State of the Nation Address, delivered by President John Dramani Mahama, was detailed it did not reflect the realities on the ground.

The traders and drivers, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency, said the President did not tell the nation what the government would do to resolve the current crisis of constant power outages, water shortages, and the fuel price increase.

Mr Kudjo Fiagbor, a driver, said he did not hear any concrete timelines as to when the power outages and water shortages would be curtailed or stopped and that issues on rent were also left hanging.

He said: ‘The President’s decision to make education a prerogative is laudable but where to lay our heads with our children has become difficult as rent is highly-priced and does not meet our earnings.’

Mr Emmanuel Ofosu-Hene and Amos Amponsah, both traders, however, called on President Mahama not to congratulate the Electoral Commission for conducting a free and Other traders and drivers, however, said they did could not listen to or watch the programme when it was broadcast because they were working.
