Uche is the Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Ghana and the only ‘CMO’ in the telecoms industry to be singled out for a special honour at the recent Mobile World Awards in Accra. This came in the form of an award for her ‘Outstanding Contribution to Marketing’, which is no surprise, considering she has transformed the Vodafone brand into a relevant and contemporary brand, that has doubled revenue in just two years.
Uche’s unique combination of innovation, value and empowerment, has led to several ‘firsts’ in the Ghanaian market including the introduction of Ghana’s lowest call-rate across networks, the creation of value bundles such as ‘Vodafone 1 Ghana’ and ‘Supreme Value’ which her competitors still try to copy today. Add to this, her changing the face of music in Ghana through the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Vodafone Live, ICONS and 020 Live and championing the creation of HealthLine, it is easy to understand how she has driven the massive success behind the Vodafone brand over the last few years. Uche’s passion and determination to make Vodafone the most preferred mobile brand has seen Vodafone picking up several awards including CIMG Telecommunications Company of the Year.
Vodafone also repeated history by collecting another six awards at the recent Mobile Telecoms Awards. These included Best Telecoms Brand for a record-breaking three-years in a row; Best Internet Service Provider; and Most Innovative Telecoms Company of the Year. Vodafone television programme HealthLine was also declared Best Corporate Social Responsibility programme of the Year whilst former CEO, Kyle Whitehill was also recognised for his outstanding contributions to telecommunications sector.
Reflecting on her award, Uche said, ‘It’s an honour to work for one of the most valuable global brands and to serve the savviest customers in the world! Our customers demand the very best and this means we have to stay on top of our game. I have a great team and my aim is to inspire them to give our customers the most reliable connection to the things that are most important to them. This means continuing to give them the best in network quality, great value, products and services that are innovative and exciting; and a fantastic customer experience.’
With such drive and focus, this year promises more memorable moments for Vodafone. We all join hands to say: ‘congratulations, Uche’!
