Vanderpuye endorses Banku-Powers bout; charges fans to respect ban on noise making

The Member of Parliament for Odododiodio constituency and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Nii Lamptey Vanderpuye has urged supporters of Braima Kamoko aka, Bukom Banku and Ayitey Powers to respect the ban on drumming and noise making in the Ga traditional area ahead of their fight on Thursday.

He said, the traditional customary rites are crucial to the Ga traditional authority hence the need for fans of the two boxers to observe the norms ahead of the pending bout.

Nii Lamptey was speaking at a short ceremony  Tuesday, when he donated bags of rice and cooking oil to both boxers in Accra.

The deputy Minister of Trade reminded the supporters to be mindful of acts that undermine the peace and security of the area adding, that the fight between the two boxers must be seen as a friendly fight since both boxers are friends.

On his part, Bukom Banku dared his opponent, Ayitey powers not to attempt to face him in the ring since he (Bukom) will end the bout in the shortest distance.

Ayitey powers also called for unity among their supporters warning them not to hide behind their bout to create violence in the area.

The bout is scheduled for Thursday May 15, 2014.
