Upper East residents protest Dr. Avea Nsoh’s removal

Some traders and youth in the Upper East region have appealed to the President to reinstate Dr. Ephraim Avea Nsoh as the Upper East Regional Minister.

They made the call during a mammoth protest in some principal streets of Bolgatanga on Tuesday.

Joy News’ Upper East Regional correspondent Albert Sory reports the protesters, mainly members of the basket weavers association, numbered about 1000.

The protesters maintained that Dr. Nsoh was a pivotal figure in the development of the region because he was concerned with a lot of issues that the inhabitants faced.

President Mahama recently reshuffled his ministerial appointees in accordance with Article 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

Ghana’s Permanent Missionary to the UN, Mr. James Zuugah Tiigah was nominated as Minister designate for the Upper East Region, taking over from Dr. Ephraim Avea Nsoh.

But some residents have staged a protest to register their displeasure with the President’s decision.
