Sebastian Barnes, the captain of the Black Starlet team that won silver in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Japan in 1993 has criticized Ghana of being ungrateful for snubbing, the ex-skipper of the Black Stars, John Mensah and John Paintsil for the World Cup in Brazil.

He thinks these two players have World Cup experience and moreover have paid their dues to the course of Ghana football, so they should have been considered in the 26-man provisional list named last week by the head coach, Kwesi Appiah.

‘John Mensah and John Paintsil have really contributed their quota to the Black Stars and have vast experience instead of Ghana tapping on their experience they have been dropped,’ Barnes told Metro fm.

‘There is an adage that goes that, the devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know, so the experience of John Mensah is better than the young ones who have not done it before.

‘The fact that a player got injured and returned doesn’t mean he is short of ideas. I think this is the time Ghana and Kwesi Appiah should have given John Mensah a chance after suffering from marital problems.

‘It is painful because in life we need to praise people who have contributed their quota, but not to reject them. I thought Ghanaians have changed , but they remain the same.’

Both John Mensah and John Paintsil played in the 2006 and 2010 World Cup in Germany and South Africa respectively.

The former Hearts of Oak defender, was part of the Black Starlet team that won gold in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Italy.
