The University of Ghana Business School is expanding to absorb the huge demand for business education in the country.
The School to this end has built a new multi-purpose Graduate School, which is structured to accommodate the various needs of the students as most of the graduate students are workers from different backgrounds.
Speaking at the inauguration of the building, Vice Chancellor, Professor Ernest Aryettey said the business school serves as a link between the university and the corporate world.
He noted the building was completed within a short period due to the funds received and advised government to restructure the mortgage market to make it easy for the school to secure loans for the completion of projects.
Professor Aryeetey also encouraged the school to regularly revamp its programmes and give students the opportunity to contribute their quota to the local and international community at large.
‘I implore the management of the school to develop a maintenance culture that will not render the facilities dilapidated long before its time. In these ways, we can be rest assured that decades from now, we will still want to associate ourselves to UGBS’
The Dean of the Business School, Professor Kwame Domfeh also added that the multi-purpose building is crucial to the training of good quality students as it would be able to accommodate a lot of students.
Professor Domfeh added the school plans to give scholarships to students in need of financial assistance. He also urged alumni to continue to support the development of the school to make it highly competitive.
The building is estimated to cost a little around GH¢12,000,000 excluding finishing and furniture.
