UCC Honors Four
The four were Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, Totobi Kwachie, Sammy Otto, the Proprietor of Sammy Otto Senior High and Technical School and Dr Kwabena Duffour Junior, who is the operations officer of UniBank.
They were honoured during the launch of the Student Emergency Relief Fund at the University in Cape Coast.
The fund would be used to assist needy but brilliant students who want financial assistance to cater for their educational needs.
Speaking at the launch, the SRC President, David Boakye said some students sometimes write to the SRC for assistance, but they do not get it.
Mr Boakye noted that each student is expected to pay an amount of GH¢1.00 every semester and that plans were underway to increase it to GH¢3.00
He stressed the need for the public to help improve the institution since the government alone cannot develop educational infrastructure in the country.
Dr Duffour Junior, who spoke on behalf of the award winners, pledged their continuous support for the University.
He underscored the need for the students to be disciplined in all their endeavors as well as take their studies seriously to become responsible people in future.
He therefore donated a 4,000 mega plant to the University.
The operations officer advised the public not to depend solely on the government in the wake of the economic crunch in the world.
