Afriyie Acquah’s Parma have lost their spot to participate in the UEFA Europa League after they were not granted a Uefa licence.
The 22-year-old was in the tick of affairs in midfield throughout the season for Parma, scoring one goal – against Roma – in 27 top flight games for Roberto Donadoni’s to help secure a place in Europe next season.
But the Italian High Court today has ruled to uphold the Italian Football Association’s original move to deny the Gialloblu the documentation needed to play in European competition.
This was due to the club’s lateness in paying certain bills, and it now seems that this will cost the Ghanaian midfielder’s side a place in next season’s Europa League.
The ruling means that Torino will be given a European lifeline after finishing seventh in Serie A this term, a point and a place behind Parma.
On-loan Acquah joined Hoffeinheim from Palermo in January 2013 on a €2.5m four and half year deal.
