Time FM Organises Clean-Up Exercise In Obuasi
The Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has hinted that the assembly would soon institutionalise a quarterly clean-up exercise as part of plans to keep the municipality clean.
He was speaking at a special clean- up exercise organised by Time FM, an Obuasi-based radio station.
The four-hour exercise brought together over 700 people, including traders, assembly members, security agencies, members of various fan clubs, and personnel from the Ghana Red Cross Society, who desilted gutters and swept the central business district of the Obuasi municipality.
Mr. Boadi commended the management of the station for sharing in the vision of the assembly by initiating this ‘laudable programme to keep the municipality clean.’ ‘It is as a result of the manner the entire community has embraced the idea of clean up exercise that has motivated me to announce plans to institutionalise the quarterly clean-up exercise.’
He reiterated the need for greater collaboration between the assembly and the entire Obuasi community, adding: ‘The development of Obuasi is not only the business of the assembly, but a shared responsibility.’
He commended the initiative of the management and staff of Time FM for organising the exercise, and urged other organised groups in the municipality to follow suit.
The Events and Promotions Manager of the station, Ms Love Konadu, observed that the station was motivated by the healthy living of the people, hence the exercise.
She expressed her happiness about the massive attendance, and thanked them, especially the sponsors and the various fan clubs, for making the programme a success.
Present were DSP Matthew Asante, Mr. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, Obuasi Municipal Environmental Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Baiden, Assembly Member for Market Square electoral area, and Mr. Ernest Murphy, Unit Committee Chairman, Obuasi Central.
