Accra, May 28, GNA- Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah has said the Black Stars are hungry to take the globe by storm as the 2014 World Cup in Brazil nears.

Ghana begins her campaign with a date against the USA in Natal on June 16, and Appiah, currently leading the team in a pre-tournament preparation is convinced the hunger among his players is strong enough to push their cause.

‘The players have shown they are hungry for success. We have learned from previous World Cups and have made sure everything has been put in place so they do not have cause to complain.’

Appiah, the first indigenous coach to qualify the Black Stars to the World Cup; Ghana’s third in succession also lauded discipline among his players barely a week after beginning preparations.

‘Discipline plays a big role, if you want to be successful, hundred percent lies with the players’ behaviour and so far it has been good.

‘I am really impressed with the performance of the players towards this kind of competition though no one is sure of himself at the moment. Everybody is attentive to whatever is taught in training. Everyone tries to do whatever he can and for me, it is good.”

The team, according to him has no injury concerns. ‘Thank God, we have had no injury worries at the moment and everyone is doing so well and I would say one year down the line, the unity is so great and discipline is very high. “

Appiah is expected to prune his team to 23 after an international friendly against Holland on May 31, as the squad fine-tune.

The Black Stars are paired alongside Germany, Portugal and USA in Group G.
